A zip file is just one or more files compressed into a single file. Give a folder a single string name without space that. I assume you mean to open or extract a zip file. This will create a ZIP file without a parent folder: $ unzip -v Archive. Step 1: Organize Files Prepare Zip Folder Go to the Finder and Control+click in the Finder window. You can work around this on macOS by going into the folder, select all the files there and select "Compress" from the context menu. From the drop down menu, choose to unzip your files to this Mac, iCloud Drive, Dropbox or Google Drive.
